The owners are also very sweet and welcoming 🙏Rod Demeny2024-10-01We had an amazing time playing with and learning about the 26 huskies. The dogs are incredibly sweet, calm, soft, friendly, and wonderful to spend time with. Their owners Gunnar and Maria are such loving parents and take great care of their dogs. Be sure to have the dogs sing for you! They are as excited to meet you as you are to enjoy them. Pick-up and drop off near our cruise ship made everything easy. Cannot recommend this experience highly enough.Laura Thomas2024-09-28Me and my partner came here today for the Husky Petting experience while visiting Akureyri on a cruise, and we cannot recommend it enough! Easily the best thing to do whilst in Akureyri itself. The company offers transfers to and from their location from several spots in town (including the Port) and are a short 10 min drive away. The dogs are absolutely beautiful and incredibly well cared for and friendly. Thanks to this experience we are looking to get a Husky ourselves in the near future! We are also looking to return in the coming months for their dog sledding that runs through the Winter months. This company is a family run business and truly care for their guests & their pups!Muthu K.2024-09-27I had such a wonderful experience with Gunnar and Maria. They are very welcoming, kind and willing to share so much about their lovely huskies. They have so much of passion, love, patience & care for their pets and have created such a wonderful home for them to live in. This truly blew me away. I had a chance to go for a walk with Maria and one of their huskies and learnt so much about Husky breeds and their personalities, features, diet, lifestyle etc. If I ever had a chance to go back to Akureryi, I will definitely go for this tour again. It is really worth the time and money!C. Nicholas Rowbatham2024-09-10This was so fun. The couple who runs it is so personable. Did the summertime hike and the dogs pull you so you never got tired. They show you how they take care of the dogs and go above and beyond.Sara2024-08-22Supper tolle Tour mit super lieben LeutenKim Swanson2024-08-14Such a fun experience to see 21 dogs and 6 puppies! EXCELLENTBased on 70 reviewsGRZ2024-09-01What a BLAST! Gunnar and Maria are such positive people and they treat all their doggies like a family, you can sense it from the moment you enter their house - it's such a positive experience! The doggies of course are amazing, they were chilling during our visit which made the experience even more magical - we have visited another place in Iceland in 2022 where we also interacted with the doggies, also amazing experience, yet I preferred it here better, it felt more peaceful as it's mostly inside a house, as opposed to being outside where the doggies would otherwise run wild (they of course have a tone of energy since they normally do sledding and other type of runs.We booked the petting tour - which is absolutely perfect, of course you can do dogsledding in the winter or other type of sledding in summer, but if you are like us, loving fluffy huskies then petting tour is an absolute must while in Iceland - come and enjoy the company and the stories behind these amazing creates and their parents, Gunnar and Maria - higgggggghly recommended!BTW did I mention we bumped into 6 puppies during our visit? :) a cherry on the top of the husky cake hahaCindy N2024-08-26Don’t pass up a chance to do this if you can! This was an awesome experience! The dogs are really well trained and easy to spend time with. The walk was a brisk 45 minutes and very well-organized. This man loves his dogs! And the puppies! So lovely to have a chance to spend time with 9-week-old puppies too. All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon. Highly recommend!Todd L2024-08-17Husky Heaven Gunnar and Maria's dogs are great. So much fun! The hike was incredible. The dogs are so sweet and are friendly and affectionate to strangersczminn2024-08-04Ten stars out of five! This was the highlight of my trip to Iceland. The family picked us up downtown and drove us to their beautiful place on the water. We were greeted by 21 huskies and got to pet them for a while, then were given a harness and paired with a dog and went on a beautiful hike in the woods. The dogs each have their own personalities and are so funny. When we finished the hike we had more time to pet the dogs and see the house where they all live. The family is warm and generous, and they are geniuses for creating this experience. There were surprises at the end too — I don’t want to spoil them. If you love dogs, I highly recommend this!!!SMF2024-07-18Must do in Akureyri ..GoHusky Trekking goHusky trekking is located on the northern outskirts of Akureyri and spending time with them was a real treat. I had a car do drive but they offer pickup too. What a great operation Gunnar and Marìa have with this business. The huskies gave me a very boisterous welcome upon arrival. Apparently they launch into this singing, as they are pleased to see visitors. Simple commands and they quieten down very quickly. The owners start training their huskies with obedience commands from the get go, showing dedication and patience, more evident throughout my visit. All the huskies were introduced to me. Who were excited, not sure if it was just seeing me or they knew it meant a walk when visitors arrived, it was their way of saying ‘pick me, pick me’ mentality! by the huskies! Marìa gave me a background talk on ‘why and how’ this business was started Then we got ready for the husky hike. The huskey’s age/ temperament matched to me. Which was great. We went on a local trail and it was great having one on one time with the husky and Marìa. To questions about the husky way of life. We were fortunate with the weather, late in the afternoon made it a delightful experience.Upon return I was introduced to the husky’s environment, which included the house as the husky’s are members of the family.I got to see the newest members of the family, the puppies. They were adorable.Quest294531379052024-06-10A Must Do Experience in Akureyi! This is an excellent experience. Gunnar and Maria are so welcoming. The dogs are so incredibly well cared for and live so well. It was not just a neat experience but a once in a lifetime opportunity to be welcomed into someone's home and hobby. If you love dogs, this is a must do. If you don't do petting do the hike or the sledding but don't miss the chance to meet this family!Zoey2024-05-29Amazing Experience! What an amazing experience! The huskies are more loved and cared for than any dogs I’ve met. The tour guide was so kind and sweet. We loved our tour!!RobMitch2024-04-16The best, dogledding. GoHusky! What a wonderful experience to take a ride on a dogsled through fresh snow in the forest, by the fjord, under the mountains. Better, you don't know anything about dog sledding until you spend a couple of up close and personal hours with a champion! And the huskies are not just mind bendingy cute, but friendly as! Loved it, highly recommended. No special skills required. Thanks Gunnar, it was brilliant.JennKSmith052024-03-31A wonderful excursion for dog lovers! Especially if you are missing your dog(s) while you are on vacation. The owners communicated with our travel agent and us about what the snow conditions would allow for us to do and gave us options based on weather forecast and conditions. Given the way the weather can change quickly there, their excellent communication helped us plan for this activity. From the moment we pulled up, we all were in love with all the dogs and this activity. We honestly could have just had dog snuggle time for hours! That said, we took turns on a private dog sledding run that made core memories for us the parents and our teens. One teen even had a brief turn driving the sled. This area is beautiful and the perspective on the sled was a memorable one. The dogs’ personalities and their obvious love of sledding made us all have permanent smiles. After the sledding we returned for hot chocolate, coffee, dog snuggles and learned about the innovative way dog hair is being reused. I had to buy an ear warmer made from husky hair. A favorite and functional souvenir. We have one dog ( German Shep/lab/husky mix) and one teen is already wondering about making something useful from all his excess hair. We heard about their hikes when snow melts and if we were here in the summer we would absolutely try that.James T2024-03-30An experience of a lifetime. You MUST book. Unbelievable that this has only 1 review - my wife found Maria and Gunni's experience via 'Visit Akureyri' and it is one of the best experiences of my and our life. If you love animals, I challenge you to think of a better experience than this once you've done it! I don't want to ruin any surprise, just book it and have the time of your life :-D We did the petting but it was anything but. Fully immersive and lots of fun!! Thank you guys!!
