goHusky is a small Icelandic family owned company that offers all year around husky tours.
Our adventure started when we had our first Alaskan husky called Aska. We, Gunnar and María, own 21 dogs today and we do all kinds of fun activities with our dogs, Dogsledding, Bikejoring, Canicross and some of the dogs are show dogs as well.
goHusky offers various dog sledding experience with huskies in Akureyri area. You can choose between Dog sledding, Hiking with husky and Husky Petting, private or in a group, what ever suits you best.
In the winter we offer Dog Sledding Tours on snow, right from our doorstep in our home in Glæsibær in North Iceland, in the countryside and surrounding area. We love to take our guests on dogsledding tours in these beautiful landscape.
All year around we offer visit to our home to meet the huskies and have a wonderful time with our lovely dogs. You can take endless pictures while visiting and get a lot of husky kisses.
We also offer hiking with husky, where guests have a waist harness and a pulling dog in front and it is amazing to find the power of the dogs and see how they work with their nature.
EXCELLENT Based on 93 reviews F O2025-08-23 Fantastic unique experience! This was a great way to start the day - hanging out with 28 gorgeous and incredibly well behaved dogs! We all had a really great time - Gunni and Maria were so lovely and welcoming, it was really great to hear their story and we’re thankful to them! It was such a nice change of pace from rushing around sightseeing. If we had more time we’d have loved to do the hiking. The location is stunning too - overall just an absolutely lovely morning and would highly recommend to anyone to spend some time with them :-) Kaylee B2025-08-23 Incredible Experience with Huskies This was an incredible experience! We got to love on the huskies and go on a private hike with the huskies and their loving father, Gunnar! You can tell just how much Gunnar and María love each and every one of their 28 huskies. We loved getting to spend time with all of them and learn about their lives in Akureyri. luisa f2025-08-14 A true, local and welcoming experience It was a very unique experience , we love dogs bur aren't so active hikers so the opportunity to see a Husky farm and meet the 2 lovely couple who run the place was just perfect for us, we learned about the abilities and habits of these lovely dogs and at same time had a cuddle with them in a warm and welcoming atmosphere ❤️ we would have never have thought anything like this could exist ,definitely unique thank you. We (my adult daughter and myself) were on a cruise and had a port stop in Akureyri. When I was researching what to do and discovered Go Husky, I knew my search was over.Online booking was quick and easy and I received an e-mail from Gunni explaining where he would pick us up (it was right by the cruise ship terminal) and that he would bring one of the dogs with him as "sign" so we could recognise him.It was a short ride from the cruise port to Gunni and Maria's home, where she and the dogs were waiting to greet us.We were the only two people booked for that day and time so we effectively had a private experience.Since it was hot day, Gunni suggested going to a nearby black sand beach for our walk as it would be cooler for the dogs near the water. If you go in the winter, you can do sledding rather than hiking. After the walk we spent time with the pack and Gunni and Maria showed us around, explaining all the science that goes into looking after 28 dogs (they have a chart in the kitchen that shows how much each dog weighs, how much food they get, what type of food and so on). They also showed us how they help keep their operation sustainable by spinning the fur that the dogs shed into yarn and then making all sorts of items with it, from hats and gloves to key chains.Afterwards Maria kindly offered to drop us off in town if we liked, rather than go straight back to the ship, so we took her up on her offer and were able to enjoy the town's botanical garden before strolling back to the cruise port.We had a fabulous day. I highly recommend this experience. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Thank you Gunni and Maria! Jteachsp2025-07-24 Today was unforgettable! 🐾 We spent the day with a pack of amazing huskies, hiking through the stunning countryside of northern Iceland. Surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and peaceful forest trails, it felt like something out of a dream. After the hike, we got to relax and spend some quality time with the dogs at their cozy home. Nature, fresh air, and furry friends—what more could you ask for? 🐕🏔️ Rob_and_Trish2025-07-21 Husky Heaven What an amazing visit this was, Maria, Gunnar and their husky family made us so welcome into their home. We were picked up from central Akureyri by Gunnar and driven out to their home on the edge of the fjord, where we were greeted by a chorus of welcoming howls. Our visit was made extra special as we were able to see (and get chewed by) three recent additions to the family, Hati, Sköll and Fenrir. This was only a short visit, but we were able to talk with Maria and Gunnar about how it all started and get a really good insight to their world, we hope to return for a "trip out" with some of the Huskies next winter. A superb afternoon, thanks.p.s. I've got some good videos but can't upload them. Tracy M2025-07-16 The most amazing time with Huskies We had the most amazing time at GoHusky , Gunni and Maria were the best hosts , we met and played among the dogs they were absolutely incredible and so well behaved beautiful Huskies, we learned about the breed the competitions , we were fascinated how they also use all the fur the dogs shed and turn this into their own wool spinning and knitting . Please go visit it is the experience or a lifetime , our teenager and grown children loved the experience too
